Yes! Even the ones on your phone
Were you affected by the recent Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp blackout? I’ve seen many people on my personal feed and in different groups trying to figure out why the images weren’t loading, why they were not able to upload or download anything on the 3 platforms. I was reading those posts and smiling because I know many of you think their pictures are safe on social media and don’t have to print them.
You couldn’t be more wrong. Just think… We once had Orkut and we all shared our pictures there. After a few years, there’s no more Orkut. Then Google+ and now it’s gone too. Do you even remember which pictures you shared on those platforms? Can you quickly grab one of your favorite pictures from 2006 and show me if I ask you now? Yeah, the answer is a big fat NO. The same thing might happen to Facebook and Instagram too. You might have already realized, I don’t trust any of the social media platforms or cloud storages ha!
I have a perfect solution for you! PRINT YOUR PICTURES. Yes, even those candid cell phone pictures. I know it can become very expensive to print each and every picture. Because let’s get real. With cell phone cameras, everyone is taking a LOT of pictures every day. Sharing them on social media is a great way to show them off to your friends, but not a safe option to archive them. Do this instead and you will have a great time going through those memories.
- Pick the few that you think represents your everyday life, those few that represents your kids’ personalities, a few of your favorites from a trip you’ve taken and so on.
- Print those pictures as 4×6 at the end of every month and keep adding to them throughout the year.
- Get an album (search for an archival quality album) from Amazon for example and add those prints in order from Jan-Dec.
- Viola, there is your annual album. Now can you show me your favorite picture from 2006 in a few minutes? YES!!!
I made albums this way for all my cell phone captured pictures and it cost be approximately $200 for a year worth of memories! Don’t you just love that?
