Our kids have been asking for a dog forever. But with the constraints we have, it is not possible for us to adopt a dog. Both my husband and I were not familiar with raising pets. Also, when we go to India to visit family, we will be forced to leave the pet at some shelter for about 2 months at a stretch. Which is both painful to leave the pet and also can become very expensive. As much as we would love to have a fur friend in our lives, we realized that it is not practical for our family. Read on to see what we did instead and enjoy the pet portraits I’ve created.
Once we learned about the good work Aggieland Humane Society is doing, we realized that fostering is a perfect option for our family. The dog gets a place to live until he/she find a forever home and our kids get to take care and play with the dog. It will be a great learning experience for all of us, all while loving and cuddling with the sweet dog. We applied to be a foster family back in March 2020. We were picked to foster a beautiful and loving boy Charlie in June 2020. We were so ecstatic and went to the Humane society immediately to get our foster pup. Look at his beautiful eyes. It’s really hard not to fall in love with him immediately.

He was a little unsure at first but within a few minutes, he was exploring our home and giving us cuddles. At the time we got him, he was only a little over 8 weeks old. But acted like an old soul. He enjoyed eating peanut butter spread on broccoli (yes, he really likes broccoli). He loved his squeaky toy and wouldn’t let anyone touch it. He sucks at playing fetch though lol. Guess he needs a little training in that department!!!
We knew we have to give him back (there were lots of tears). So I decided to create some memories of him. His majesty had his own photoshoot!!! We went up to my studio and got beautiful pet portraits of him. He did so well flaunting his majestic looks and poses.
When they say, dogs are the true best friends and they will never leave your side, it is absolutely true. You have a chance to bring home one of these beautiful and trustworthy babies. Most of the pets at the Aggieland humane society were either abandoned, or even worse, endured some kind of torture in their lives. You can help them by opening up your home to either foster or even better if you could adopt. You can also help by donating a small amount to the organization that is working so hard to give these beautiful creatures a loving life.
When you shop for a pet, it encourages commercial breeding. But when you adopt, it gives the pets another chance at life. It is pure love and nothing can beat that. I strongly encourage you to adopt your fur baby from a shelter rather than purchasing from breeders. They will instantly become a member of your family and will be your best friends forever for giving them a loving home.
